SOUTHBOURNE PROMOTION DAY
Yesterday, Fisherman's Walk was home to an all day, outdoor celebration of food, creativity, and community in the heart of Southbourne.
Our u3a gazebo took its place among the numerous exhibitions, workshops, and stalls that lined both sides of the free to access venue. Sadly, light persistent rain in the late afternoon brought the day to a premature end.
Many, many thanks to our volunteers who promoted our u3a to the countless people who were promenading through the Festival.

CASTLEPOINT PROMOTION DAY
For the first time, our u3a gazebo took its place yesterday in the spacious concourse outside M&S at Castlepoint.
With kind April weather, there were many promenading shoppers who paused for conversations with our volunteers. They were able to speak of the many opportunities our u3a offers to stay act active in later life.
Many, many thanks to our members who staffed the stall and engaged with interested passers-by.

2025 CHRISTMAS LUNCH
Around a hundred members began the Christmas break with a festive Lunch at the Cumberland Hotel today.
At the end of the lunch, Rosa (who organised the event), and the staff who served us, were all warmly thanked.
After the raffle, a communal rendition of "We wish you a Merry Christmas" brought this annual occasion to a close.

BOURNEMOUTH u3a 2025 AGM
Over 50 members attended our AGM this morning at The Knole, and the annual constitutional formalities were dealt with.
In her report, our Chair, Stephanie, said, "I want to stress again the founding principles of the u3a, those of mutual aid and self-help".
She was hopeful that committed members would step forward after the AGM and volunteer to ensure the successful ongoing operation of our u3a.
Our Treasurer noted that the full year results showed a surplus of £3,068.

2025-26 GROUPS BEGIN TO MEET
In the past view days, most of our special interest Groups have begun their regular meetings for the coming year.
The photo spotlights Group 73 - "Early Beliefs: religion or superstition" - at its first meeting yesterday at MCC.
In this year's talks, Group Leader Neil is addressing the question, "How and why did religious belief and practice develop in early Homo Sapiens?"

PICNIC ON THE BEACH
Last Wednesday, a small but faithful group of members came together for our annual "Picnic on the beach" (near the SoBo Café).
Set against pleasantly balanced summer weather—neither too sunny nor too windy, our lunchtime get-together was delightfully convivial.
With good company and a relaxed atmosphere, two hours slipped quickly away.

JULY SUMMER GET TOGETHER
This morning, members and u3a enquirers came together in Westbourne for a successful 'Summer Get Together'.
The indoor venue provided a cool and welcoming room away from the warm summer heat.
Very many thanks to our Secretary, Dorothee, for hosting this event.

UNI-SING CONCERT
Scores of members came together in the Great Hall at MCC this afternoon to hear spirited renditions of 1960s popular songs and some hit musicals.
Thelma's choir swayed through an extensive programme that included Barcelona, some Abba songs, and a West Side Story selection.
The concert concluded with a powerful performance of You'll Never Walk Alone, which left many in the audience visibly moved.
Warm applause all round reinforced Uni-Sing's cherished place in our u3a.
